The mask that does more than filter.
Wearable respiratory protection with active UV-C treatment of the air stream
Why should protection mean that a face disappears?
A conventional mask holds back what it can hold back mechanically, and accepts the loss of expression, speech and eye contact. secureAIR takes a different route: the breathing air is guided through the device and treated there, while the face remains visible behind a transparent shield. Only the guided air stream inside the wearable device is treated — never the room air.
The idea
- 01A transparent mouth-and-nose shield keeps expression, lip movement and eye contact visible.
- 02Integrated micro-fans maintain a directed airflow and are intended to keep breathing resistance low.
- 03A compact UV-C LED unit irradiates the guided air stream on its way through the system.
- 04UV-C radiation is intended to damage the genetic material of viruses and bacteria and reduce infectivity.
- 05The UV-C sources are fully enclosed in the housing; treatment happens inside the wearable device.
How it works
- A headband and housing carry the technology and keep the weight out of the field of view.
- The transparent shield forms the air space in front of mouth and nose and directs the air into the channel.
- Micro-fans create the directed flow through the treatment channel.
- A UV-C LED array sits in the channel, its irradiation path matched to the dwell time of the air.
- Electronics and battery control fan output, irradiation and runtime.
What is different about it
- Treatment rather than filtration alone: the air is irradiated inside the system.
- The face stays visible — decisive for communication between clinician and patient.
- Active flow instead of passive resistance: breathing should be easier than in dense filter masks.
- A personal device, not a room-air appliance: protection where breathing happens.
What we already have
- The system has been virologically investigated.
- The wearable build concept of shield, air path, UV-C unit and electronics is defined.
What we still want to prove
- The figure of up to 99.99% inactivation circulating around the project is a validation target for us, not demonstrated operating performance — it is only meaningful with documented test conditions.
- Clinical field testing under real conditions.
- Comfort, runtime and noise across a full shift.
Where it could matter
- Medicine and operating environments
- Dentistry and practices with close patient contact
- Laboratory and care work
- Allergy sufferers and personal protection

Flat Rotor
The Flat Rotor works horizontally instead of high on a tower. It does not need to be turned into the wind, it produces far lower tilting and bending loads, and it can be deployed modularly on roofs, industrial sites, farmland or container platforms. Small prototypes are in trial operation.

Tube-Body Turbine
The tube-body turbine guides flowing water through a spiral, rotating tube body. Instead of braking the flow head-on, it uses the forces created by continuously deflecting the water mass. A larger prototype has been tested and measured in the river Elbe.

Water Desalination
Established desalination relies on high pressure or a great deal of heat. TECLOW is pursuing a separation principle intended to work with far less of both. The principle is worked out theoretically; no prototype has been built.
